Liberation or Bombardment
2008-02-14

The recent tragedy in Sderot involving a young football player being hit by a kassam rocket has outraged not only Sderot residents but all Israeli citizens. Eventually people will no longer be able to stand the fact that their government has abandoned them and they will understandably look to leave the city. The government needs to solve the problem. Not score points by killing terror leaders (there will be more) or taking out factories but actually solve the problem.

Israel must do one of two things. Either liberate the Gaza strip and send the IDF to reenter Arab communities (as it did in Judea and Samaria after the Park Hotel massacre on Passover of 2002) or severely bombard Gaza from the air as the Allied Forces did in Germany during World War II and NATO did in Yugoslavia in the late 1990s.

In our bombardment, however, Israel must be more moral than the Allies and NATO and we should warn the enemy with pamphlets beforehand. We are confident that the Arabs on the border will retreat following the first bombardment and there will be no more rockets being launched on Sderot.

The choice is very simple. Either Sderot will become a ghost town and Ashkelon will follow or Gaza will become a ghost town and Ramallah will follow.
